Corporate Legal Counsel
Nathan Chan was most recently a partner with the law firm of Owens, Wright LLP before beginning his own professional practice. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) in 1993 and an LL.B in 1996, and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Prior to joining Owens, Wright LLP, Nathan practiced with one of the largest law firms in Canada.
Nathan is involved in all aspects of the business of his many high technology clients (renewable energy, managed services, software development, VARS, etc.), including the setup of corporate, fund and other structures, joint ventures, equity and debt financings and negotiation of commercial contracts. His international clients include European and Asian companies with worldwide offices and he co-ordinates and supervises both domestic and international legal transactions for such clients and their Canadian operations.
In the renewable energy sector, Nathan has been involved in the creation of multiple investor funds for solar electricity generation projects, the purchase and subsequent financing of one of the largest aggregations of MicroFIT solar projects in Canada, and acquisitions and divestitures of commercial rooftop portfolios.
Nathan is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.
